Easy to install

The first step is to remove the original cover from your key. The original cover must be removed before the replacement cover can be fitted.
After removing the old cover You can then employ a flathead to remove the four major attachment clips out of the passenger side of fob assembly. These are marked with red on the image below. Also, note the tabs for locating slots shown in yellow that must be removed as well.
After removing the battery replace it with a brand new 3 volt coin cell battery. Make sure that the "+" positive side of the battery is aligned to the opening in the fob, and that the -" negative side is facing toward the buttons made of rubber.
Reattach the passenger-side mirror cover by aligning locating tabs. After you've done this, place the fob for the driver side back in your car and test it by pressing the button on the front of the car key. If everything is working properly, the parking lights should be turned on and the doors will close.

The key fob comes with a microchip in it that is used to communicate with the Body Control Module (BCM). When you insert your Fiat key it presses the button on the ignition switch. This is used to remind you of the "key-inignition". The BCM will then be able to read the transponder on the key fob and verify that it's genuine.
